WASHINGTON (AP). - The consumer price index (CPI) of the United States remained unchanged in July for the second consecutive month and the cumulative inflation in the last year was 1.4 percent, according to Monday’s Department of Labor.

Analysts had forecast for July CPI increased 0.2 percent.

The decline of 0.3 percent in energy prices offset the increase in July from 0.1 percent in food prices, according to the report of the Government.

Excluding food and energy prices, which are more volatile, core inflation in July compared to June was 0.1 percent.
